Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! My name is Andy Smith and this will be my first year as principal of Benton Elementary Elementary. As principal, it is my pleasure to help serve the educational needs of your child. I'm excited to work with our dedicated staff to help provide the best academic and social support for your student.
I graduated from Nevada High School in 1997 and obtained a teaching degree from the University of Central Missouri. I then received a master’s degree in Elementary Administration from Missouri State University in Springfield. I’ve spent my entire career in education in the Nevada R-5 School District serving as a 2nd grade classroom teacher, a Title 1 teacher, a Reading Specialist, and in my current role as assistant principal. I have a wife and 3 wonderful, but wild, sons. They are 7 months, 4 and 8 years old, and two of them will be attending pre-school and 3rd grade this year. Along with serving your students, some of my joys include being with my family, reading, and sports: Go Royals! Open and honest parent/school communication is extremely important, so please stop by to introduce yourself and say hello. Please know that I will do my best to develop a meaningful relationship with ALL students at Benton, and I will always treat your student fairly and with respect. I wish your family and student great success during this new school year! Sincerely, Mr. Smith Principal Benton Elementary |
